I remember finishing my first yoga teacher training; I felt lost. I had gusto and passion for sharing the practice of yoga, but I was undertrained and unsure about my teaching skills. There was always the mentality of competition in the industry. I felt confused about my authentic gifts.
During my study and career as a yoga teacher, I always had a mentor I turned to and asked questions for yoga teachings and business-related. They were my guides to navigate my strengths and weaknesses. They helped me understand why I do what I do and how to grow as a teacher and serve the communities and people.. They held me accountable for my passion.
It is essential to be skillful when you teach classes, lead workshops or retreats, and run a small business (you are an independent worker!). You are spinning several plates at once, and it's valuable to nurture all aspects of your career. I believe the army of yoga teachers can change the world and create significant influences on society. When you stand in front of your students, you are taking the seat of a teacher and a leader.
To grow as a teacher, we learn from the past. And senior teachers who walked the path before us have many pearls of wisdom to share.
